Kimberly Clarke
Kimberly has been tutoring with Prestige Academic Prep since November 2023 and brings a diverse educational and teaching background to her work with students. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Syracuse University and her master’s degree in School Counseling from Mercy College. Her experience also includes teaching health education courses focused on adolescent development, puberty, and personal health at an all-girls middle school with Girls Inc. of New York, as well as teaching English and History at Phoenix Recovery Academy in Frederick, Maryland. She has also taught a Math SAT Prep class.
Kimberly enjoys working with students from elementary through high school, supporting Reading and Math through Algebra II. She believes that effective tutoring starts with understanding the student as a whole. Before jumping into academics, she takes time to learn about each student, including their confidence level, relationships with teachers, interests, and extracurricular activities. From there, she works with the student to set realistic short- and long-term academic goals and determine the steps needed to reach them.
One of Kimberly’s greatest strengths is her ability to build genuine connections with her students. By understanding their individual strengths, challenges, learning styles, and goals, she can adjust her approach to meet their needs. She brings patience and encouragement to her sessions and breaks challenging concepts into manageable steps. Kimberly also creates an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without judgment. Her goal is not only to strengthen academic skills but also to help students build confidence and develop strategies that help them become more independent learners.
Outside of tutoring, Kimberly enjoys trying different foods, traveling, spending time with her dogs, and watching movies. She has traveled to 50 countries and hopes to reach 100 within the next five years. Her love of flying also led her to attend flight school in Maryland.
