Dysgraphia Support
What Is Dysgraphia?
Dysgraphia is a learning difference that can affect the physical act of writing, handwriting fluency, spelling, written expression, and a student’s ability to organize and communicate ideas on paper.
It is important to understand that dysgraphia is not related to intelligence. Many students with dysgraphia have strong ideas, creativity, and comprehension skills but experience difficulty translating those thoughts into written form.
Common Signs of Dysgraphia
Signs of dysgraphia can vary from student to student, but common indicators may include:
- Messy, inconsistent, or difficult-to-read handwriting
- Trouble spacing letters, words, or sentences properly
- Frequent spelling errors, even with familiar words
- Difficulty organizing thoughts when writing
- Avoidance of writing tasks or frustration during assignments
- Strong verbal responses but limited written output
Common Frustrations Students May Experience
Writing challenges can impact more than just academics — they can also affect a student’s confidence and overall school experience. Students with dysgraphia may:
- Feel frustrated when their writing does not match their ideas
- Become fatigued quickly during writing assignments
- Avoid homework or assignments that involve extensive writing
- Lose confidence in their abilities, even when they understand the material
- Feel embarrassed or self-conscious about handwriting or spelling difficulties
How We Support Students With Dysgraphia
Our approach focuses on building writing skills step-by-step while reducing frustration and increasing confidence. We support students by:
- Breaking writing tasks into smaller, manageable parts
- Teaching clear strategies for organizing and expressing ideas
- Providing a supportive, low-pressure environment for practice
- Adjusting the pace of instruction to align with each child’s individual needs
- Reinforcing writing skills through guided practice and consistency
Our goal is to help students not only improve their writing skills, but also feel more confident and capable in their academic work.
Tutor Qualifications & Writing Support Experience
Our tutors are selected based on their experience working with students who need additional academic support, including students with writing-based learning differences.
Many of our tutors have backgrounds in education, special education, literacy support, or executive functioning instruction. Tutors providing dysgraphia support understand the importance of patience, structure, encouragement, and individualized instruction.
We recognize that students with dysgraphia often benefit from:
- Step-by-step guidance
- Explicit instruction and modeling
- Organizational support
- Multisensory and visual learning strategies
- A supportive environment that reduces writing-related anxiety
How Sessions Are Structured
Sessions are individualized based on each student’s age, skill level, and specific areas of difficulty, while still following a structured and supportive routine.
Depending on the student’s needs, sessions may include:
- Handwriting and letter formation practice
- Sentence construction and paragraph organization
- Graphic organizers and brainstorming strategies
- Guided writing exercises
- Spelling and editing support
- Executive functioning and organization strategies
- Typing and assistive technology support when appropriate
Our sessions are designed to reduce overwhelm, build foundational writing skills, and help students become more confident and independent writers over time.
Helpful Tools for Writing Support
Using the right tools and accommodations can make writing feel more manageable and accessible for students with dysgraphia.
Helpful supports may include:
- Speech-to-text tools that allow students to express ideas verbally
- Graphic organizers to plan and structure writing
- Typing instead of handwriting when appropriate
- Checklists to support organization and task completion
- Visual writing guides and sentence starters
What Progress Can Look Like
Writing development happens gradually, with each new skill building upon the last. Over time, students often make progress in areas such as:
- Writing clearer and more complete sentences
- Expanding and connecting ideas more effectively
- Organizing thoughts into structured paragraphs
- Improving spelling and written expression
- Building confidence and independence with writing tasks
With consistent support and practice, these small steps can lead to meaningful long-term growth.
Tips for Supporting Writing at Home
Supporting your child at home can make a significant difference in both confidence and progress. We encourage families to:
- Encourage children to share ideas out loud before writing
- Focus on effort and improvement rather than perfection
- Break assignments into smaller, manageable steps
- Allow extra time for writing tasks when possible
- Use supportive tools such as typing or speech-to-text programs when appropriate

My son has been seeing Jasmine for Math and Stephanie for English, and they have both been incredible in helping enhance his learning capabilities. Kids these days often see their parents as “pressuring” them to work harder, when in reality, parents are simply trying to guide them onto the right path toward success. I am truly grateful to have found Prestige Academy for helping guide my son toward academic success. He now actually looks forward to his sessions, and I have seen a tremendous amount of improvement in both his confidence and performance.Posted on Google![]()

My daughter has been attending tutoring sessions here, and it has helped her tremendously with math. I’ve seen a huge improvement in her confidence, understanding, and overall performance in school. The owner runs the business very professionally and clearly cares about the success of every child. The staff she hires are all incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and patient. They really take the time to make sure the kids understand the material while making them feel comfortable and supported. We called Prestige in a bit of a panic with just 4 weeks left in the grading period. My daughter was taking an Honors level Geometry class which is a year-long high school class shortened to one semester. After speaking with Jasmine, she was able to accommodate our need. My daughter received tutoring beginning THAT evening. Like most, we are a very busy family and Jasmine was able to carve out a tutoring plan based on our schedule and our daughter's needs, through the end of the grading period. About halfway through we needed to pivot and add in additional turoring for another high level test. We again contacted Jasmine and she made it happen. We were able to add additional tutoring to our original timeframe. Ultimately, tutoring is complete however we are atill.waitimg on testing results. Jasmine instilled confidence and knowledge effortlessly. We will be utilizing Prestige again in the future. Good folks here!Posted on Google![]()

My two kids are being tutored here and they love their tutors! Jasmine (the owner) did a fantastic job of matching tutors with their needs both academically and personality-wise. The onboarding experience was smooth and seamless, the apps she uses for comms with parents are great, and Jasmine and the tutors are really responsive via text. Both my kids have extracurricular activities that sometimes conflict with their sessions, and everyone is really gracious about moving things around to make it work. I cannot speak to academic outcomes yet, so I'll have to wait to see until the end of the school year, but so far so good!Posted on Google![]()

Our family has had an excellent experience with Prestige Academic Prep. Both our elementary and high school students have received personalized support that has made a noticeable difference. Most importantly, our high schooler was able to understand an algebra concepts that she had previously been a significant challenge. The scheduling options are convenient, and the location is clean, easy to find, and provides a bright, welcoming environment for learning. We are very pleased with the quality of instruction and highly recommend this service.
